ASPSF Supporter Spotlight: University of Arkansas
Did you know ASPSF recipients enrolled at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith receive extra aid every semester?
The UAFS Foundation matches each single parent scholarship by 25%. The money is deposited into the students’ school accounts.
That means our single parents are receiving up to $300 more each term!
“We can’t thank UAFS enough for this creative and innovative idea,” ASPSF Executive Director Ruthanne Hill said. “And while they’ll always be the first, we invite every Arkansas college to consider such a partnership.”
UAFS provides additional ways to help nontraditional students succeed. This includes the Adult Degree Completion Program, which awards college credits for work experience. And starting next fall, UAFS will offer on-campus child care.
UAFS “wholeheartedly” believes in investing in single parents, said Blake Rickman, the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and Executive Director of the UAFS Foundation.
“We want the power of a college degree to be available to everyone with the passion to aim higher,” he said.
